This September SHADOWRAPTR unleashes their debut full-length album It’s Always Winter on the Moon. Recorded at the Marburg Hotel in Clifton, this guitar soaked psychedelic-soul-pop odyssey represents the culmination of the first year and a half that the band has been working and writing together. The album is ever changing in mood and texture, crafted in part by collaboration with several local musicians.
In a world dominated by singles, EPs and Youtube, SHADOWRAPTR set their sights on crafting a cohesive album, an aural experience to be played end to end. It’s Always Winter on the Moon takes listeners on a musical voyage, exposing them to everything from soulful multiple part vocal harmonies and layered guitar compositions to explosive experimental rock freak-outs that create a beautiful yet terrifying sonic landscape. Pulling from a wide variety of influences, It’s Always Winter on the Moon pays homage to the cerebral complexities of Pink Floyd, while modernizing it with Grizzly Bear-esque harmonies and a kick of genre-bending unpredictability a la Akron Family.
